The eager faces awaited the instructors at the evening award
ceremony in the centre of 1650. Badges and certificates were
gratefully accepted and everyone dutifully posed for the cameras.
It was a great finish to the week after awesome skiing and
beautiful blue skies. Courchevel 1650 is where New Generation
started so it was great to see some familiar faces who have
moved through the ranks - Whippersnappers to Rockets!!!
|
 |
The award ceremony was kicked off in good fashion with the
Wallabies home first, kicking at the heels of Gaelle and their
2 helpers, Mike and Lettie. It is always so rewarding for
office staff and instructors alike to see the young beginners
come on leeps and bounds. The Wallabies were soon followed
by the Arrows, Bombers and Rockets. Ewan reported that his
Rockets had not stopped once.. and wanted to keep skiing!!
Another great half-term in Meribel.

What a week! Blue skies, perfect snow and lots of fun. We
could not have asked for a better half-term week. At half-term
the instructors get the help of our trainee GAP students which
means the children are very well looked after and the everyone
can get on with skiing and having fun. All our groups made
amazing progress. We followed our beginner kids (Wallabies)
on day 3 and they were flying down the mountain.

 |
What a fantastic start to the season we had in Meribel. The
resort seems to get better every year and that is just off
the piste! Our team in Meribel is passionate about skiing
but also likes to enjoy the apres ski facilities that Meribel
provides. We have included a few scenary, client and pub pictures
to give you a glimpse into Meribel life.

Each year New Generation runs an ISIA training course. This
year we had a number of students who were on our GAP year
last year. The students train over the course of the season
concentrating on their teaching and technical skills to get
themselves ready for a number of exams at the end of the season
that they normally go off and do in Zermatt. In this particular
session each student had to think up a drill for a specific
technique then have the group execute the drill concentrating
on 4-5 specific points. Fun but tiring work!

Burns himself would have been inspired by the views we experienced
on our trip to the Bothy (Mountain hut) on Burns Night. We
walked 2 hours up the mountain with the help of snow shoes
and star light. At the bothy we were welcomed by a very fine
cheese fondue, some 'drinkable' Savoie wine and a roaring
fire. This trip we normally organise for our GAP students
who always record it as one of their favourite nights out
of the season - we weren't disappointed this time.

 |
Sometimes you just have to switch off the computer and head
out of the office. Yesterday was such a day. We have not witnessed
such an awesome start to the season for many years so it was
time to take advantage of the early snow. Instructors and
office staff couldn't stop smiling all day - the powder was
light and fluffy and the sky was blue. Perfect. We have posted
a few photos of our day and some of our instructors so you
can see who will be teaching you. Have a great holiday / season
/ winter / Xmas!!!!!

Instructors, gap students, trainees, office staff and friends
of friends all met up in Annecy for New Generation's Summer
Session 2007. The idea of the summer session is that we all
have a holiday and do something which we are all not very
good at. Going back to being beginners is a humbling
experience for all of us and guarantees laughter the whole
weekend. We all had a brilliant time. Thanks to everyone who
came, see you next year when we go canoeing on the Danube!!!!!!
(Oh Dear!..)

Just to prove that we all got involved and make fools of
ourselves - here is Ali Rainback (New Gen Director, BASI Trainer
and GAP Course Technical Director) showing that he is willing
to give anything a go. This clip is hosted by You Tube. New
Generation cannot be responsible for any content outside of
our site although we can laugh at it.

Yes you did read the title right. We all thought we had seen
it all until we witnessed the magic of surfing on a lake.
15 of us jumped onboard the wake boat with the promise of
seeing magic performed and we weren't disappointed. I am sitting
here now still in awe of how anyone can surf (without a rope)
behind a boat. Don't believe me.?.. check out these photos.
|
 |
Check out this video made with the photos from our GAP 2007
students. We had a brilliant bunch of students last year,
they were all committed to their skiing but also always found
time to relax. enjoy.
|
 |
Thanks to everyone who sent us photos. We have included most
of them in the other photo galleries but we had a few left
so we thought we'd post them in their own gallery. Please
send us any photos you would like to see on the site.

To celebrate another fantastic season we decided to BBQ the
office! With Alberto risking all (of us) cooking the chicken
and Warren serving up the wine and beer the party quickly
pulled in passers by. It was great to see everyone relaxing
and was a fitting end to a great season. New Gen instructors
have now started to head off for their summer jobs which include,
mountain bike guides, wakeboard instructors, and hotel managers!
From everyone at the New Gen office (which stays open all
year) we wish our instructors and clients a FAB summer! |
 |
This year we were lucky enough to get some qualified British
snowboard instructors joining our team. Lee, Mike, Iain, Rob
and Ed brought a whole new aspect to the school. Cruising
the pistes with snowboarders is an experience in itself. At
the end of the season we took the camera out to capture what
they get up to. Next year these guys are running a GAP Snowboard
course in Meribel so it be a lot of fun. |
 |
Despite it being Friday the 13th, the final awards ceremony
of the season went without a hitch. We had some great children's
groups to finish off the season - and as the pictures show
everyone was happy to receive their badge and certificate.
It is one of the best moments of the week, not just for the
kids, but for the office staff and the instructors who love
the see the next generation of skiers enjoying the sport they
all love. |
 |
We have put together a selection of photos from our Meribel
team. This year we added 2 British snowboarders to our team
so we can now cater for all disciplines. Meribel is a fantastic
resort with great bars and clubs and even better slopes. The
Moon Park has been brilliant with an awesomes selection of
jumps and rails. The slopes have easily been the best maintained
in the Trois Vallees - the snow making at the start of the
season was bettered by none. |
 |
As we went into April things really started to heat up across
the Alps. The dump of snow we experienced at the end of March
and freeze / thaw conditions meant you could still find great
skiing in every Valley. All our resorts reported fantastic
skiing throughout the day - this was certainly shown by the
faces of the groups at the end of the week. Thanks to everyone
who skiied with New Generation over Easter. |
 |
Fresh snow, blue sky, sun and great skiing all combined to
make a great start to our Easter programme. With a mixture
of adult and children's groups we were all kept extremely
busy but it was all very worthwhile when we got to see the
smiles at the end of the week. At New Generation we believe
we are an important part of our client's holiday. At the end
of the week - the smiles tell us we have achieved what we
set out to do. |
 |
Snowboarding is all about having fun and riding with your
friends. These photos cover a freestyle session with Lee Laird
and his fearless group of teenagers. The Meribel Moon Park
is the perfect place to learn freestyle techniques. Graded
jumps and rails with clear routes down through the park mean
there is something for everyone. Always remember to warm up
before going in the park and always have a run through to
scout the landings. Ride hard and enjoy. |
 |
As the Official European Partner of BASI, New Generation
runs a number of Instructor Training courses for up and coming
instructors. We went out with the camera to get a snap shot
of the on slope training. Extensive warm ups and technical
drills are essential parts of the training but as you will
see from the photos no-one forgets that the idea is also to
have fun. |
 |
We have had some great piste skiing this season but until
yesterday (Feb 27th) we had missed out on that elusive 'dump'
of powder. After 3 days of snow - the skies finally cleared
and the powder fields opened up. Ali, Jason, Emily and me
(the photographer and token snowboarder) caught the 8:45 lift
and headed down to the LA Tania trees for an awesome morning.
Hope you like the pics.. we're off for some more...... |
 |
God, GI Jane, The Pink Tracksuit squad, a beaver, the ES
Pirates and many more characters made their way on to the
streets and into the bars during Verbier's answer to Mardi
Gras. The New Generation instructors swapped their Green jackets
for pink tracksuits (where they bought them from we have no
idea!) - rumours that we were moving to pink next year were
quickly squashed.... Verbier certainly proved itself as THE
party town of the Alps. |
 |
This was our first half-term in Verbier. Unfortunatley it
was all hands to the pumps so we didn't get too many pictures.
The photos we do have show the awesome conditions we experienced
in February and the Tom Lewis BOMBERs group!. The Bombers
made excellent progress in the week and turned heads on the
slopes with their brilliant skiing! |
 |
It is not all skiing on our GAP course. These photos have
been cherry picked from our GAP students' own collections.
Yet again the course seemed to have attracted a great bunch
of students who were dedicated to their skiing but liked to
let their hair down in their time off. Dicks Tea Bar, The
Ronnie, Khalicos, The Pizzeria - these were all regular haunts.
The resorts of Courchevel and Meribel offer some wicked skiing
and some great nights out. |
 |
Sometimes it is good to experience being a beginner again.
We certainly all achieved this at the summer surfing weekend
in Guethary. A good turn out including GAP and ISIA students,
Planet Sub Zero, instructors and friends, meant that there
were plenty of people to laugh at and with. Thankfully we
were under the guidance of Christophe who managed to coach
us into the water and 'eventually' to experience the amazing
feeling of catching a wave. Surfing is awesome. |
 |
5:00 am in the morning is not a time to
be pulling yourself out of bed. But this is what Ali (NG Director)
and Matt (NG Marketing Manager) did when 2 of the UKs madest
barefoot water skiers were in town. Annecy lake is like glass
at this time and that is essential if you are silly enough
to want to be dragged behind a boat at 40mph without skis
or a wakeboard on.
Thanks to Adam and Steve for an excellent,
and very painfull, barefoot coaching session. You used to
be able to find these boys on Lake Windemere (until some clever
person introduced a speed restriction!!). Enjoy the pics...
try to imagine the pain Ali is going through..... |
 |
At the end of February 2006 the snow finally
arrived. The New Gen Team were quick to swap their piste skis
for their FAT off-piste planks. No couloir or rock drop was
left untouched as the instructors took advantage of the deep
powder and blue skies. The snow quickly returned to cover
up the tracks and send everyone back inside but the photos
tell of an awesome few days. |
| |
Everyone deserves a break - so what do ski
instructors do with their day off? They go heli-skiing!! It
is only an hours drive and a quick ski through the resort
of La Rosiere until you reach the Italian boarder and, more
importantly, the heli-pad. |
 |
One of the reasons we started our ski school
in 1650 was because of the awesome powder days. When it snows
there are few places better for soft, fluffy powder lines.
It is a winter playground for beginners and instructors alike.
Blue skies, powder turns, big smiles, aching legs... the list
goes on... |
 |
La Grave is probably the only French resort
to have avoided the lure of 'commercialisation'. With no real
pistes - this is an off-piste haven. Don't expect 5 star hotels
or food. It is all about steep couloirs and big descents.
Every year the New Generation team head off to La Grave for
a weekend break and let it rip. |
 |
Ok Ok ... we know this is a ski site. But
when the Tour comes to your town it is unmissable. This year
Lance Armstrong pulled away from the pack as he entered Courchevel
1650. The whole town lined the streets and cheared every rider
up the punishing ascent. It made us all glad that we ski downhill.
|
 |
Every summer New Gen hold a summer party
for instructors and students at the Sheffield water ski park.
This year we had over 40 people turn up and enjoy the sunshine.
The weekend event included karting, wakeboarding, a massive
bbq and a party on the Saturday evening. |
 |
Lake Annecy is known as the French Riviera
of the Alps. It is about 40 km in size which makes it superb
for wakeboarding. Some of the New Gen team were based in Annecy
during the summer making it a perfect place to have our management
team meeting and, of course, to take part in a spot of wakeboarding.
