Simon competed in the Mogul Skiing World Cup for 8 years, was the British number one and won the British Championships 4 times. Upon retiring he joined New Generation and is now in his fourth year teaching in Méribel. During this time he has developed a passion for off-piste skiing, spending days off ski touring around the 3 Vallées area. Position:Ski School instructor Qualifications:BASI International Ski Teacher Diploma Who Inspires You?Alexandre Bilodeau, 2010 Olympic Moguls Champion Top Tip:When skiing moguls, look at least 2 bumps ahead. This will give you time to anticipate each bump before you hit it . Client Feedback:I had a fantastic week of lessons in Meribel with Simon Bates. He taught new skills to the group but also gave individual points to work on throughout the week. At the start of the week I was a very timid intermediate skier but on the last day of ski school we did part of a black run! My skiing improved hugely during the week, but my confidence improved even more! Thank you for a great weeks skiing. (26 Jan 2011, Miss R.G.) |
