At New Generation Ski and Snowboard School, we take pride in ensuring our children’s programme is more inclusive than any other ski school. To make that possible, we have a unique ski passport that allows kids to continue their learning seamlessly, regardless of which resort they visit next. Here is how it works:

These are our Ski Passport Levels
Penguin – Whippersnappers
To achieve the Penguin award, kids need to be able to:
✅ Move around on their skis on flat terrain with help
✅ Use a magic carpet or beginner lift with help
✅ Listen to and follow their instructor and their instructions
✅ Slide in a straight line with their skis parallel with help
✅ Start to snowplough with help

Polar Bear – Whippersnappers and Wallabies
To achieve their Polar Bear award, they need to be able to:
✅ Move around independently on their skis
✅ Touch their toes and head while sliding
✅ Slide in a straight line with their skis parallel
✅ Ski in a straight line, making a snowplough by themselves
✅ Do snowplough wiggles
✅ Touch their toes and head while sliding
✅ Hop or jump on skis while sliding forward
✅ Listen to and follow their instructor and their instructions
✅ Use a magic carpet or beginner lift by themselves

1 Star – Wallabies
To achieve their 1 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski in a straight line with their skis parallel and stop using a snowplough
✅ Control their speed when following their instructor on a beginner run
✅ Make snowplough turns around a series of cones
✅ Stop safely in a group
✅ Put their skis on and take them off by themselves
✅ Carry their own skis
✅ Get up on their own after a small fall
✅ Sidestep up a hill
✅ Use a drag lift and or a chair lift

2 Star – Arrows
To achieve their 2 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Make snowplough turns, of a variety of sizes, in control, on a green run
✅ Make their skis parallel at the end of the turn on a beginner/easy run
✅ Link six snowplough turns in control on their own on a green run
✅ Explain how to stop and start safely on the mountain
✅ Traverse across the slope with their skis parallel
✅ Lift their uphill ski while traversing across the slope on an easy run
✅ Ski over rollers or small bumps
✅ Land a small jump

3 Star – Arrows
To achieve their 3 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski confidently on blue runs, linking turns and following their instructor
✅ Make their skis parallel at the end of the turn on a blue run
✅ Lift their uphill ski for three seconds while traversing across the slope on a blue run
✅ Use poles: Ski with them and be able to carry them with their skis
✅ Box slide (ski straight across a box with skis parallel to the box)
✅ Ski backwards in a snowplough
✅ Link bunny hops when traversing
✅ Confidently land two or three small jumps in a row

4 Star – Bombers
To achieve their 4 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski and stop safely on their own, showing awareness of other skiers and obstacles around they on a blue
✅ Make plough parallel turns, matching their skis in the fall line or earlier on a blue run
✅ Perform J turns (Ski straight down the fall line and turn up the hill) with their skis parallel the whole time
✅ Skate on skis
✅ Ski on one ski while traversing a blue run for 5 seconds or longer
✅ Ski backwards, making snowplough turns
✅ Ski the rollers, small bumps or skier cross in a snowpark, safely
✅ Explain the difference between the piste markers and how they can help they navigate around the mountain
✅ Explain the rules of a snowpark

5 Star – Bombers
To achieve their 5 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Make linked, controlled parallel turns following their instructor on a blue
✅ Ski six linked parallel turns in control on their own, on a blue
✅ Ski red runs confidently and in control, linking turns and following their instructor
✅ Traverse across small bumps or moguls, absorbing the impacts (maintaining ski snow contact)
✅ Sideslip vertically or diagonally down the hill
✅ Do a hockey stop
✅ Ski a 180 flat spin on a green run
✅ Explain how to overtake other skiers safely and know who has the right of way

6 Star – Rockets
To achieve their 6 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Make rounded rhythmical long parallel turns on a red run
✅ Start to make linked (skiddy) short radius turns on a blue run
✅ Traverse across big bumps or moguls, absorbing the bumps (maintaining ski snow contact)
✅ Use a pole plant
✅ Roll from one edge to another on a path or cat track (Simple carve)
✅ Get air on bigger jumps, landing safely and well-balanced
✅ Safely lead the group down the mountain, deciding where to start and stop, with awareness of other skiers and obstacles around they and the group
✅ Ski 360 Flat spins on a green run
✅ Ollie (pop) on their skis

7 Star – Rockets
To achieve their 7 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski black runs confidently and in control, following their instructor
✅ Ski short radius (skiddy) turns on a red run
✅ Show the use of a pole plant at all times
✅ Sideslip to edge check on steep terrain like hard reds or blacks
✅ Make linked carved turns on a green run
✅ Start to explore different types of snow (pisted, bumpy, powder, crud)
✅ Box slide with a jump on to and off the box (skis parallel to the box)
✅ Understand and explain the Accident Procedure and how to get help

8 Star – Freeride
To achieve their 8 Star award, they need to be able to:
✅ Make short radius (skiddy) turns, controlling speed with a pole plant on a red
✅ Confidently ski black runs in control, making decisions on when and where to start and stop in safety
✅ Make carved turns on a blue run
✅ Start to gain grip in the turn (edge control) to skid less and less, and have more precision in their turns
✅ Make turns in choppy, bumpy and sometimes deep snow
✅ Clear the flats and land in the landing zone of the small kickers in a snow park
✅ Navigate their way around the resort with a piste map and the piste signs
✅ Explain how to judge and know which drops, jumps, and lines are safe in the mountain environment

Bronze Star – Freeride
To achieve their Bronze Star, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski Funnel activities:
Ski varying radii of turn shape, controlling speed on blues and reds
✅ Lead the group on reds, making decisions on speed, turn type and safety
✅ Link a series of short turn,s getting grip from the fall line
✅ Ski rounded linked carved turns on a blue run while controlling their speed
✅ Ski skidded, linked medium radius turns through a mogul field
✅ Link turns in choppy, bumpy and sometimes deep snow
✅ Make linked backward (fakie) parallel turns
✅ Hit a small natural drop, spotting the landing and skiing out

Silver Star – Proride
To achieve their Silver Star, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski black runs with a range of different turn shapes while controlling their speed (pisted and unpisted)
✅ Lead the group on a black run, making decisions on speed, turn type and safety
✅ Ski rhythmical turns in fresh or choppy snow off the edges of the piste on their own
✅ Link short turns in a mogul field whilst staying in the fall line
✅ Perform braquage on a black run (linked skidded hockey stops in a narrow corridor with the torso pointing down the hill)
✅ Demonstrate how to use a transceiver, shovel and probe
✅ Do a grab on a jump
✅ Do a 180 on a jump

Gold Star – Proride
To achieve their Gold Star, they need to be able to:
✅ Ski a fall line descent of a mogul field, making linked turns with a pole plant while controlling their speed
✅ Lead the group in bumpy, choppy, variable snow safely
✅ Ski a couloir, chute or a steep un-pisted descent
✅ Do a grab on the medium jumps in the park
✅ Do a box-slide to fakie
✅ Land larger natural drops
✅ In a simulation, rescue one avalanche victim in six minutes
✅ Explain the dangers and safe ways to ski off-piste, including how to read the terrain, weather and snow conditions
