Introduction to Avalanche Safety

For any skier or boarder who wants to explore off-piste, it’s essential to not only have avalanche equipment with you, but to know how to use it properly.

This course is an introduction to familiarise yourself with avalanche safety. In this course we’ll cover:

  • Understand how to use your equipment – You’ll learn the use of your transceiver, probe & shovel and how to use them effectively.
  • Simulation searches – Techniques to search as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Avalanche safety knowledge – Key safety information to help you learn how to keep yourself safe while off-piste, so that you can avoid dangerous situations wherever possible.

Advanced Avalanche & Mountain Safety

For those who are already familiar with avalanche safety and want to deepen their understanding. In this course we’ll cover:

  • Review the basics – Brush up your knowledge on your avalanche equipment and search techniques.
  • Snowpack analysis – Learn about the different types of snowpack and how to determine what you’re skiing on so that you can make smart and safe decisions off-piste.

Intro to Ski Touring

Finally think it’s time to give ski touring a go?

This session is great for beginners to intermediates – we’ll tailor the session to your level and aims. Maybe it’s starting with the basics and familiarising yourself with the kit. Or perhaps it’s getting to know the local area and the a new touring spot with the help of our knowledgable instructors.
