……Fa la la la la, la la la laaah. And with many of you choosing to celebrate this festive time of year in the Alps we thought it only right to give you the lowdown on what’s on in your favourite resort over the Christmas and New Year break. And with snow forecast for the end of this week across the Alps we’ve got everything crossed that we’ll have a white Christmas this year!!


If you’re in Courchevel for Christmas week then don’t miss Santa doing his rounds. He’ll be visiting Courchevel 1650 this evening at 5pm and Courchevel 1850 tomorrow at the same time for anyone who thinks they’ve been good this year! Then to keep you entertained on the big day itself they’ll be a musical show taking place on Christmas Day in 1850 at 6pm on the snowfront. Or if you fancy a bit of magic head down to Courchevel 1650 on Boxing Day for a magic show taking place at 6pm and again at 8.30pm. Then to kick off New Year’s Week there’s an ice skating gala up at the rink in 1850 on the 29th. And then for New Year’s Eve Courchevel will of course be hosting their annual party on the piste in 1850. With a dj, fireworks and plenty of vin chaud from 10.30pm. Always a good night and buses run til late from all the outlying villages.


On Christmas Eve Méribel is hosting it’s annual Carol Service at 5pm for anyone with some air left in their lungs after a day on the hill. Then on Christmas Day there will be a torchlit descent starting from the Rond Point going down to Méribel from 5pm,  which always gets us in the festive spirit. During the evening the bars around town will be busy, with an open mic night on at Evolution if the carol service got your vocal chords in tune. And on Boxing Day Méribel is laying on a street party outside the tourist office from 4.30 with local favourite The Elements playing. Then for New Year there will be a torchlit descent at 6.30pm and Jack’s Bar and Evolution will be hosting a joint party which is sure to help you see it in in style.


This evening at 6pm is a carol service with mince pies and mulled wine at the church in Morzine. Father Christmas will be making the rounds on Christmas Eve, hitting up Les Gets at 5.30pm. Then from 6.30-7pm don’t miss the fireworks display taking place at Pleney. And if you fancy a Christmas walk the lifts in Morzine will be opening especially for pedestrians. The team from Le Restaurant Chanterelle at the Col d’Encranaz are organising a 3hr hike on Christmas Eve followed by a well earned fondue feast. Then over New Year the bars around town are pulling out all the stops to keep you entertained with live music aplenty from apres through to late.




It’s all go in Tignes with the final touches being made to the large stage sat outside the Maison de Tignes. This will be the setting for the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve Circus Events. These are free Cirque-du-Soleil style celebrations to bring in both Christmas and then the New Year so come and join us! Rumour has it Santa will also be touring Val d’Isère and Tignes throughout Christmas Eve so children, make sure you’re behaving!

There’s lots of Christmas activities going on in Val this week, kicking off tonight with the annual ESF Christmas show.  From 6pm on the nursery slopes you can see the torchlight descent down the Face, fireworks and freestyle demonstrations with free vin chaud served by the instructors.

Father Christmas is coming into town on Christmas Eve! He’ll be coming down the main high street in his sleigh with magical fairy assistants from 5pm.  You can meet Father Christmas to give him your Christmas list and have your photo taken with him!


On Christmas Eve there’s a Christmas concert in Le Chable. Then Santa will be arriving at La Tzoumaz at 4pm to hand out presents. And in the evening you can the opportunity for a spot of night skiing on the Petite Combe. If you’re visiting for New Year don’t miss the party at La Tzoumaz from 4pm. They’ll be djs for apres and live music throughout the evening, culminating in a fireworks display to see in the new year.
