Or if you fancy a bit of magic head down to Courchevel 1650 on Boxing Day for a magic show taking place at 6pm and again at 8.30pm. Then to kick off New Year’s Week there’s an ice skating gala up at the rink in 1850 on the 29th. And then for New Year’s Eve Courchevel will of course be hosting their annual party on the piste in 1850. With a dj, fireworks and plenty of vin chaud from 10.30pm. Always a good night and buses run til late from all the outlying villages.

Then on Christmas Day there will be a torchlit descent starting from the Rond Point going down to Méribel from 5pm,  which always gets us in the festive spirit. During the evening the bars around town will be busy, with an open mic night on at Evolution if the carol service got your vocal chords in tune. And on Boxing Day Méribel is laying on a street party outside the tourist office from 4.30 with local favourite The Elements playing. Then for New Year there will be a torchlit descent at 6.30pm and Jack’s Bar and Evolution will be hosting a joint party which is sure to help you see it in in style.

Morzine

This evening at 6pm is a carol service with mince pies and mulled wine at the church in Morzine. Father Christmas will be making the rounds on Christmas Eve, hitting up Les Gets at 5.30pm. Then from 6.30-7pm don’t miss the fireworks display taking place at Pleney. And if you fancy a Christmas walk the lifts in Morzine will be opening especially for pedestrians. The team from Le Restaurant Chanterelle at the Col d’Encranaz are organising a 3hr hike on Christmas Eve followed by a well earned fondue feast.
