Rory Mowbray - Courchevel Ski Instructor

Rory Mowbray

Ski Instructor, Courchevel 1850

My Story

I started skiing at the age of 11 and never thought it would be any more than a hobby. But after deciding university wasn’t for me I booked onto the New Gen instructor training course here in Courchevel, that was in 2012. Since then I’ve continued to work on my technique taking my exams whilst I gained some experience working in Italy and Switzerland. But in 2017 I returned to the 3 Valleys and it’s great to be back.

Teaching here is a dream with it’s numerous green and blue runs make it ideal for beginners and intermediates. As well as plenty of steeper pistes and some great off-piste for those more advanced. I love nothing more than clipping into my race skis and really laying them over, getting as much reaction from the skis as I can muster. Don’t get me wrong I love all kinds of skiing. Whether it’s off-piste, bumps or jumps, but it’s getting those big angles which have always been my forte. As well as skiing I enjoy surfing, cycling, slacklining and more recently skateboarding. You’re never too old to learn something new.

Top Tip

You’re ski boots are the most important piece of equipment. If you’re going to invest time and money on lessons. Head to an experienced boot fitter. You’re really going to struggle to improve if your feet are moving around in your boots.
