Sam Pickup - Courchevel Ski Instructor

Sam Pickup

Ski & Snowboard Instructor & Resort Manager, Courchevel

My Story

Started as an overly enthusiastic dry slope skier, which thankfully lead me to the snow and allowed me to start my qualifications very early on. Gaining my Level 4 qualification at the age of 20, which allowed me to be one of the youngest to work in France. This will now be my 8th winter teaching, 2 in Verbier, and the last 5 in the Three Valleys.

Something we don’t know about you

Languages Spoken

French (conversational)

Top Tip

Relax your feet and let your toes spread out in your boots. Especially on that first day back. It can be quite tempting to try and grab the sole of the boot with your toes, but this just creates tension in your legs which despite making it harder to ski, tires those legs out quickly. So let your toes go and get loose.
