I started skiing when I was 4 years old. Every winter my parents took me on a 1 week trip to Austria. I always followed lessons with the local ski school until I was around 14 years old, after that I went free skiing with my brothers. When I started studying at 17 years old I also went on ski trips with my college, as well as the trips with the family.
When I was 19 years old I got my ski instructor qualification and ever since I have been working as an instructor in Austria in a little resort called Gruna im Almtall. The work there was unfortunately never a full season, but only 5 weeks a season.
On off days I, of course, love to tour around the resort with a group of friends. But if I must choose, I would prefer to go off-piste, and play around in the powder. I have always liked the adventure side of finding your own routes through the forests.
Since the last 2 years I have also been practising the freestyle side of skiing. So if there is a nice park in the resort you might find me in there.
The one thing I have always loved the most about teaching is seeing the progress in the level of my students/clients, and seeing the joy it brings them. Skiing is an amazing sport for this, since you often see a lot of progress in the first week of trying the sport. Besides the progress I just love working with people and getting to know a lot of different people from all over the world.
When I finished my studies for Physical Education, I started working as an outdoor instructor in the Belgian Ardens. Here I was teaching a lot of different outdoor activities, such as climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, wild water canoeing and caving (as well as skiing in Austria). After 5 amazing years I quit the outdoor lifestyle and started working in an indoor climbing gym as a manager and coach.
