Tignes

Tignes, part of the Espace Killy ski area, is renowned for its varied and extensive off-piste terrain. The resort’s unique blend of diverse terrain, reliable snow conditions, and breathtaking scenery makes it an incredible base for off-piste courses.

The resort has everything from vast open faces to challenging couloirs and hidden powder stashes, making it the perfect playground for experienced skiers and snowboarders. If you know where to look, there is also some incredible tree skiing.

Some of the most popular ski routes include Les Vallon de la Sache, an off-piste paradise with varied difficulties. the Couloir du Chardonnet, known for its excellent snow and stunning views; the Petite Balme, featuring playful drops and consistent snow from November to May; and the Couloirs des Tufs, a challenging area for advanced riders.

The altitude ensures reliable snow conditions, and a large amount of the off-piste is quickly and easily accessible from the lifts, with limited hiking.

The course doesn’t include accommodation, but Tignes offers a wide range of options, from budget-friendly apartments to luxury chalets. So, you can choose the type of accommodation that suits your needs and budget. However, unless you have a car, we don’t suggest staying in Tignes les Brevieres.

Courchevel & Meribel

Courchevel, part of the Three Valleys ski area, is renowned for its pristine pistes, but its off-piste opportunities are a well-kept secret. Thanks to its north-facing slopes, the snow here stays in great condition for longer, offering you incredible snow. The resort’s state-of-the-art lift system allows for quick uplifts, ensuring you can maximise your time on the mountain.

Being famous for its piste skiing means the off-piste is skied less often, and fresh tracks can be found for weeks after the last snowfall. From steep couloirs around Cruex Noir to playful descents like SuperMario Land and Forktree, there is something for every skier and all weather.

A modern lift system gives quick, easy access to a variety of off-piste zones but you’ll need to hike a little for the best lines.

Accommodation in Courchevel 1650 and 1850 can be expensive, but if you want to manage costs, there are some cheaper options in Le Praz, La Tania, St Bon, and Bozel.
