Reliable Snow

Getting to Val d’isère
By Plane and Transfer
The most common way to reach Val d’Isère is by flying into one of the nearby airports and then taking a transfer to the resort. The closest airports are Geneva (GVA), Lyon (LYS), and Grenoble (GNB), all within a 3-hour drive. Upon arrival, you can book a private or shared transfer, hire a car, or use one of the many shuttle services to Val d’Isère. While this method is the quickest, it may not be the most environmentally friendly choice due to the carbon emissions associated with air travel.
By Train (Environmentally Friendly Option)
A more eco-friendly option for reaching Val d’Isère is to travel by train. The nearest train station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, located approximately 30 kilometres from the resort. From the UK, you can take the Eurostar Ski Train from London St Pancras or Ashford International to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with a change in Paris or Lille.
Once in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, you can transfer to Val d’Isère by taking a bus or taxi. Travelling by train significantly reduces your carbon footprint compared to flying and can be a more relaxing and scenic way to journey through the French Alps.
By Car
For those who prefer the flexibility of driving, getting to Val d’Isère by car is another option. From the UK, you can take the Eurotunnel from Folkestone to Calais and then drive through France, following the well-maintained motorways and national roads. The drive from Calais to Val d’Isère takes approximately 10 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
Driving allows you to explore the beautiful French countryside and stop at your leisure, but it may not be the most eco-friendly choice, especially if you’re travelling solo or with a small group.
