I learned to ski at the age of 5, taught by my mum, and picked up snowboarding at 13. I didn’t grow up in the mountains – I learned on holidays while visiting family in Germany – but the sport quickly became a big part of my life. I’ve never competed beyond the contests you invent with friends on the mountain, and these days you’ll mostly find me off piste, though I enjoy lapping the park as well. My best memory comes from my first ever season, when the lifts closed because of Covid: a few of us built our own little snow park and walked laps until the light ran out.

I became an instructor so I could spend as much time as possible on the mountain and share my love for the sport. My favourite part of the job is watching something click for the person I’m teaching – a trick or a technique finally landing – and how much fun we have afterwards. I’ve been instructing for three years, teaching piste and off-piste snowboarding here in St Anton.

In the summer, I ideally head home to Australia to surf, and when I’m not on a board of some kind, I’m bouldering. One surprising fact about me: there’s just about no food I don’t like to eat.
