Mads Emil Søgaard Nielsen

I started skiing at 3 years old, taught by my parents and the ski school in Trysil, on our once-a-year family holidays to Norway. That was my skiing life until 16, when I started at a boarding school focused on skiing and instructor training. From then on, I was skiing three or four times a year while earning my instructor education. For the past two seasons, I’ve been on a train-and-work programme in St Anton, completing my Danish Level 3. In my free time, I love freshly groomed piste skiing and off-piste skiing. My best memory is skiing with my whole family last year: not a care in the world, just having fun, enjoying nature and family time.

I’ve always loved skiing and improving my own skiing, so becoming an instructor was about sharing that with others and spreading the joy of skiing. My favourite thing about the job? Skiing is my job, and the mountain is my office. I got my Level 1 in 2021 and have been working full-time since 2024.

In the summer, I work as a substitute teacher, catch up with friends I don’t see in winter, and train to stay injury-free for the season. I love football, golf and beach volleyball. One surprising fact about me: I know all the flags of the world.
