Where to Meet for Your Val Thorens Lessons

The New Generation Val Thorens Ski School meeting point is outside the Restaurant Jasper, at the top of the Musarainge magic carpet. Look out for us in our North Face uniforms.

Welcome to Val Thorens. Our meeting point is outside Restaurant Jasper at the top of the Musaraigne magic carpet, and this page gets you there with time to spare.

The Meeting Point (All Group Lessons)

We meet outside Restaurant Jasper, at the top of the Musaraigne magic carpet in the beginner area. Look for our instructors in their green North Face New Generation uniforms.

1. Head to the beginner area in the centre of the resort. Confirm the best orientation landmark, e.g. from Place Caron or the Rond Point des Pistes.]
2. Find the Musaraigne magic carpet, one of the covered moving walkways.
3. Ride it to the top. It’s free, no pass needed.
4. We’re right outside Restaurant Jasper.

When to Arrive

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your lesson starts. That gives you time to sort skis, passes and nerves.

Getting Here

Do I need a lift pass to reach the meeting point? No. The Musaraigne is one of Val Thorens’ four free magic carpets, so you can ride up to us without a pass. You’ll need your pass for the lesson itself.

Staying in Val Thorens? The resort is compact and mostly ski-in, ski-out, so the beginner area is a short walk or a short ski from almost anywhere.

By car: Winter parking in Val Thorens is paid and best booked in advance. Free shuttles run between car parks P3, P4 and P5 and the Place des Arolles throughout the winter season. P1 and P2 also offer parking close to the meeting point. If you’re taking the bus, the closest bus stop is at the Val Thorens bus station.

What to Bring

• Your lift pass. You don’t need it to reach the meeting point, but you’ll need it for the lesson itself. See our guide to the Val Thorens lift pass, which also lists the free beginner lifts.
• Skis, boots, poles and a helmet, fitted the day before if you can. See our Val Thorens ski hire guide.
• Suncream, water and a snack for the kids. Val Thorens is Europe’s highest resort, so the sun is strong even on cold days.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are flexible. We can meet you at your chalet, hotel, or anywhere that suits you. Please let us know at the time of booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. If nothing is arranged, your instructor will meet you at the group meeting point outside Restaurant Jasper, as above.
