Seeing as most of us don’t step outside without our smartphones, we thought it might be good to share our favourite ski apps. Here at New Generation Ski School we think they’ll certainly make your ski holiday easier.
Ski and Snow Report ski app
Free on IOS and Android
There are lots of apps on iPhones that let you find out the latest snow report and weather. We quite like this one. The app allows you to get the latest snow updates, reports from people on the ground in the resort you are travelling to and you are also able view ski resort webcams. It also comes with some pretty handy resort information such as which lifts are open, making it a bit of a ski holiday survival guide.

iTrail Map ski app
Free on IOS and Android
If trying to open out your piste map with chilly fingers and a good mountain breeze is frustrating then you can download this app for free to get access to over 750 piste maps. The great thing is that once downloaded you don’t need service to access the maps, which means no big phone bills when you get home. Download iTrail Map app now
iTrail Map Pro ski app
For £2.99 you can download iTrail Pro Version. This provide 3D maps and GPS tracking of your own location. This means you can easily see the distance you have travelled and vertical distance covered. It all helps for a little bragging back at the chalet. Download iTrail Map Pro now
Peak Finder ski app
Free on IOS and Android
We have all stopped at the top of a lift and had a good chat about which huge peak or mountain range we are gazing at. Well the debates are off, as this app works like a magic viewfinder for Alpine mountain ranges. Hold it up in front of you and point it as the peak you want to know the name of, and hey presto, you get a drawing of the range with named areas.
ActionShot ski app
Free IOS
Action shot lets you shoot any movement shot and then turns it into an action sequence. Great for those moments when you have decided to push yourself and you want to make sure not a bit of it is missed. But just remember, literally none of it is missed…
And the best gloves to use with your Smartphone
If all these apps have put you in the mood for your ski holiday – don’t forget to pack some touchscreen friendly ski gloves. We love the Etip gloves from Ellis Brigham – works just like fingers on touch screens! Buy your Etip gloves with Ellis Brigham
