Thinking about starting your ski instructor career in the French Alps? Whether you’re planning a temporary teaching position or a long-term opportunity, navigating the process of qualification recognition may feel difficult. But don’t worry—that’s where we come in!

We’re Here to Help Every Step of the Way

Fully qualified ski instructors from EU countries (like Italy, Germany, Austria, or Slovenia) can apply to have their qualifications recognised in France, to obtain authorisation to work in the country.

Step 1: Understand the Two Key Systems

France offers two main paths for ski instructors with foreign qualifications:

  • LPS (Libre Prestation de Services): Ideal for short-term teaching, this declaration allows you to work temporarily (up to 8 weeks in a season in 2-week blocks) –  approval is generally quicker.
  • LE (Libre Établissement): Perfect for those looking to work a full season or more, this allows you to establish yourself in France with a Carte Professionnelle, valid for 5 years.

Step 2: Where to Apply

To begin the process, applications must go through the following portals:

  1. TREQUE Portal: Begin by uploading your qualifications here to receive an Attestation d’éducateur sportif européen
  2. Declaration Educateur Sportifs Portal: After receiving your attestation, submit your declaration to obtain your LPS receipt or Carte Professionnelle.

Step 3: Gather These Essential Documents

  • A valid ID or passport
  • Ski instructor diploma and its French translation
  • Eurotest and Eurosecurité certificates
  • Content summary of ski instructor course (translated in French) – you can request this from your ski instructor association/college
  • Criminal record check (translated into French)
  • An A1 French language certificate (required for LE applications)
  • Proof of third-party liability insurance (required for LPS applications)

Common Challenges to Be Aware Of
