Group Snowboard Lessons

If you want to learn to snowboard and don’t want to spend the first day on your bum, our lessons will get you up and moving in no time. We cater to any snowboard level, but we focus on beginner and intermediate riders who want to learn the basics for our group lessons. The skills you’ll learn will enable you to move around any mountain with ease, style, and confidence.

We offer three levels of snowboard lessons:

  • Learn to Board (Level 1)
  • Perfect the Turns (Level 2)
  • Start to Ride (Level 3)

If you’re at a higher level, we recommend private snowboard lessons, as you’ll make more significant gains from one-on-one coaching.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer snowboarding lessons currently in Serre Chevalier. If some of your party are boarders, then we would happily recommend a school that could teach snowboarding.

What will you learn in our Snowboard Lessons?

Snowboard Lessons Overview

Anyone can snowboard, adults and children* (we recommend six years upwards), so you can share the experience with friends and family. Riding a snowboard will take you to places you’d never imagined. While overcoming challenges, hitting goals and having fun. You’ll be sharing adventures, tackling challenges together and achieving goals. They’re the type of experiences that you don’t regularly have in your day-to-day life.

And what will transform you from a beginner to a shredder? Great snowboard lessons. When an energetic and smiley instructor greets you on the first morning, you’ll feel instantly excited and at ease.

Our group lessons are divided by ability, so you’ll learn with others who have never boarded. Your new instructor will inspire you and cheer you on throughout the week. They’ll also share their love for snowboarding and the mountains so that you learn to love the new environment!

Our instructors are there to support you and make you feel calm and confident, which will help you enjoy your time on the slopes.

*Group snowboard lessons are suitable for 13 years +. For younger children (6 years +) who would like to snowboard, we’d recommend a private lesson.

Level 1: Learn to Board

A quality snowboard lesson is crucial to a great first experience on a snowboard. It can be tempting to take up the offer of friends teaching you, but often, it’s best to stick to a professional snowboard instructor as they know what they’re doing (and you won’t fall out!) We recommend you book adult group snowboard lessons for your first time riding sideways.

What can you expect from your first snowboard lesson?

  • Learn how to use your new snowboard equipment and get comfortable with it.
  • Learn proper technique from day one so you don’t build bad habits and stay safe on the mountain.
  • Instruction from a highly qualified instructor who will inspire you to ride like a pro.
  • An environment where you’ll feel safe and build your confidence on your snowboard.
  • Insider knowledge from the instructor who knows the local mountain well. They can share things such as the best pistes for your ability.
  • A friendly, social atmosphere for other first-timers so you can learn at your own pace.
  • And a few laughs (we hope!)

Level 2: Perfect the Turns

Snowboarding can be a big confidence game. If you learn meticulously and thoroughly at the start, you’ll make each advance confidently and quickly. If you rush onwards and skip bits you don’t like, you may struggle on day three and have to go back to the drawing board when the difficulty ramps up.

Our ‘Perfect the Turns’ course helps those who have been on a snowboard before but want to feel more confident as they start to turn and explore further outside the beginner area.

Our experienced instructors will give you tips and techniques to build confidence and enable you to move around the mountain with ease. They will also share tons of advice on making your life easier whilst on the mountain snowboarding.

Level 3: Start to Ride

If you’ve begun turning and feel you’re eager to see more of the mountains, then our ‘Start to Ride’ is perfect for you. In these group sessions, you’ll venture further around the ski resort, experiencing different lifts, terrain, and challenges.

Our instructors will help you manage the varying conditions and help you to move with style and ease. You’ll get direct feedback on your technique and how you can improve.

You may even explore the terrain park where you can learn to jump or slide on features. You can learn some fantastic skills in the park which are transferred across the whole mountain, making you a much more nimble snowboarder.

Adult Snowboard Level FAQs

We do our best to ensure this doesn’t happen during the booking process. If your instructor feels that you’re in the wrong group, however, we’ll do our best to move you to a more suitable level.

No. We are really proud of our diverse, fun and friendly international team. Boasting some of the best instructors from around the world. Hailing from England to Edinburgh, Austria to Australia, and everything in between. All of our instructors speak good English, and most importantly, they have extensive experience teaching in English. Many of our instructors are native English speakers but that’s not the only important factor we consider when we recruit our instructor team. Our instructors are carefully selected for their teaching ability, people skills, and passion for the sport, as well as their fluency in English. We think this makes our team a well-rounded bunch and it means that we also have other language skills should you require them.

  • During peak weeks our adult groups have 2 – 8 people.
  • During non-peak weeks, all our French resorts have 2 -6 per group.
  • In Verbier, our groups have 2 -5 per group.

Depending on which resort you’re heading to, requirements will vary. Refer to the ski school pages for resort-specific recommendations.

Alternatively, we’re always here to help. Get in touch for more info about lift passes in your resort and for your specific lesson.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer to join a group for part of the week. It’s important each pupil is in the group for the entire week so that everyone progresses at a similar rate.

We are always sorry if you cannot make the lessons that you have booked, but if you do not attend the lesson on the day we cannot give a refund for the missed lesson or reschedule. We are happy to provide a letter for your insurance company in this instance. If you miss a day of a group lesson, it’s fine to come back the next day but know that you may find yourself behind the rest of the group and may need to be moved down a level if appropriate.

Beginner snowboarders should take a week’s worth of group lessons to get to grips with the basics and learn proper form. We recommend a couple of days one-on-one with a snowboard instructor if you’d prefer private lessons.
