Ski Instructor & Resort Operations Manager, Three Valleys

My Story

My first skiing experience was at the tender age of three and I’ve never looked back. I love being in the mountains, each and every day is so completely different I never tire of the wonders of my office. I enjoy helping to break down barriers enabling you to explore the mountain accessing more terrain, no matter your level. From complete beginner to expert or wanting to take your first steps off piste, I believe having fun in a non-judgmental relaxed atmosphere is key to learning.

My teaching career started in Scotland in 1985, since then I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world teaching, settling in Meribel with New Generation in 2001. I’ve been involved with training and examining Instructors for both the British and New Zealand systems. One of my proudest moments was representing Britain as part of the 1995 Demo Team in Japan.

In the summer you’ll find me wandering the mountains of Europe by foot or road bike.

Specialities

I’m a BASI trainer and really enjoy passing on my knowledge of teaching skiing and coaching candidates to their end goals.

I also enjoy teaching any one at any level who is keen to make a change and challenge themselves a little, be it the first green run or an off-piste adventure.

Top Tip

It’s all about your ski boots. First, only wear one pair of socks. Secondly, the clip that should be the tightest is the one around your ankle. It should be comfortable in other areas though because if it’s too tight across the top of your foot, it will cramp and you might end up with numb feet.
