Val d’Isère has some of Europe’s best skiing, but is it any good off the slopes? It’s a reputation for aprés-ski and nightlife might lead you to believe it’s not good for children. We can tell you that this isn’t the case. Here’s our pick of the best off-snow activities for kids in Val d’Isere.
When visiting Val d’Isère with younger kids, you’ll save hundreds of Euros on Val d’Isère lift passes. Kids under eight ski for free. Ensure that you bring proof of age when going to the lift pass office.
Aquasport Centre
The Aquasport Centre is a great place to go in December and January, when evenings are shorter and temperatures drop soon after the lifts close. It’s an indoor escape for families looking to extend the fun into the evening.
Whether it’s a splash in the heated leisure pools or time in the play areas. The Aquasport Centre is the ideal mix of being active from the comfort of indoors. If you want to stay active on dry land, there’s also a 12 m high climbing hall. Children aged five and up can participate (with an adult escort for those between 5 and 15).
Cinema
Le Splendid cinema is a cosy family brilliant for chillier or quieter evenings.
It is located at Maison de Val (320 rue de la Face). There are two screenings a day (18:00 and 21:00), Sunday through Friday, and it is closed on Saturdays.
Tickets are modestly priced. Starting at €4.50 for under-14s. This makes it the ideal activity for a chilled, affordable après evening.
Dog Sledging

For an enchanting snow-time experience, head into Manchet Valley. Home to a team of huskies ready to take you through wintry alpine landscapes. Dog sledging is ideal for slightly older children. Some operators recommend ages eight and up. It is both a memorable and magical experience.
Val’Aventure
Kids and adults alike can climb, swing, and zip through the forest canopy at Val’Aventure. Nestled in the Rogoney (or Solaise) forest, there are six levels of difficulty.
From the gentle “Pitchoun” for children as young as four to more challenging adult courses. There’s something for everyone. Safety harnesses and professional instructors ensure fun without worry.
Ice Skating

Val d’Isère’s village centre comes alive each winter with an open-air ice rink. Skaters can glide under the crisp mountain air from 10:00 to 20:00. Open from December through mid-March.
It’s a delightful way for families of all ages to enjoy playtime in the snow with charming Alpine backdrops.
Adroit Farm
Step off the pistes and into a world of farmyard charm at Adroit Farm, Val d’Isère’s beloved working dairy. Children can visit cows, pigs, hens, and more. It’s also possible to explore the cheese-making process. There’s also a farm shop with delicious local cheeses, yoghurts, and charcuterie.
Craft Sessions
In the evenings, Boubird Childcare runs craft sessions designed to give children a gentle end to the day. Activities include things like pizza-making, snow globe crafts, dreamcatchers, and nature-inspired play. These sessions are a calm, creative way for kids to unwind, especially after a full day on the mountain. They also give parents a quiet moment to themselves, knowing the children are in a safe and relaxed space.
