Known as the “Queen of the Dolomites,” Cortina offers stunning scenery, superbly groomed pistes, and an unmatched air of sophistication. For foodies looking to indulge in some traditional Italian dishes, Cortina d’Ampezzo has its delicious local cuisine and warm, inviting atmosphere.

Often in the spotlight, Cortina features in many films, such as the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, The Pink Panther, and The Italian Job. Cortina will also remain in the spotlight as the host of the 2026 Winter Olympics. This brings massive investment to the resort, with €33 million spent on new lifts and other infrastructure in and around Cortina.

Cortina has a rich history. During WWI, the area was contested between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Remnants of this time can still be found in the via ferrata, mountaintop bunkers, and lookouts scattered throughout the area.

Cortina’s natural beauty also differs from what you usually find within the Alps. It’s jagged rock formations and expansive plateaus earned the area a UNESCO World Heritage site designation.
