Yes, Les Arcs is snow-sure at an altitude of 2000m and with 340cm of snowfall annually. The snow typically lasts into spring and is well-managed by the Paradiski resort teams.

Les Arcs 2000 sits at an altitude of 2000m, while the lower villages, Arc 1600 and Arc 1800, are at their respective altitudes.

Les Arcs is a beginner’s paradise. Les Arcs 2000 has six green pistes and 64 blue pistes.

If you are a complete beginner, the ‘front des Neiges’ is a great place to start.

There are also some fantastic rolling blues which are shallow enough for beginners to learn on.

Our favourite blue runs in Les Arcs are:

• Renard, is wide and sweeping, which is great for beginners looking to get moving off the magic carpet.
• Edelweiss is another blue run which is a firm favourite because of its size.

Les Arcs has 17 black runs, and many areas labelled “natur”.

For the steepest black runs in the resort, make your way towards the Varet gondola. There are actually three black runs beneath the gondola and on a powder day, they are insane! The Lanches is our favourite as it’s usually a bit quieter than the other two runs. The snow is always good here as it’s in the shade.

Kids in the Wallabies group do not need a ski pass for the first day, and instructors will advise on the necessary pass for the final days. Young Arrows to Pro-riders will require the Les Arcs Area Pass. Adults in Level 1 groups also don’t need a ski pass for the first day, with instructors providing guidance on the pass needed for the concluding days. You can reach Les Arcs by air by flying into Grenoble, Lyon, or Geneva, where transfer companies offer airport transfers. If driving, it’s about a 9-hour trip from Calais, which has no luggage restrictions but comes with costly tolls. Alternatively, you can take the train; Eurostar runs direct services to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, from where you can access Les Arcs via funicular and free shuttle buses. Non-skiers can enjoy several activities such as tobogganing, paragliding, dog sledding, visiting the igloo village, and snowshoeing, among others.

Les Arcs has 44 red runs and an enormous snow park.

• Belette, it’s wide and steep at the top but then flattens out, so you can use that initial speed to make some epic turns.
• Clocheret and Arolles are two red pistes which are amongst the best, due to their size and consistently even terrain. This is a great place to practise because there’s plenty of space and isn’t usually that busy. Find out about a few secret ski runs that most people bypass.
• If you want to go a little higher, take the Aguille Rouge gondola up and opt for the red Arandelieres run. This is a fantastic wide open piste which is often left un-groomed. By the end of the day, it’s usually pretty bumpy as it’s been chopped up. Learn how to ski in choppy conditions.
