Is La Tania expensive?
La Tania is a great option for those who want to ski in the Three Valleys, but don’t want to fork out on Courchevel prices. La Tania isn’t as expensive as Courchevel 1650 or 1850. There are plenty of budget accommodation options with self-catering apartments and all-inclusive hotels to make your stay in La Tania a more affordable option, with the same access to the Three Valleys.
How do you get to La Tania?
Fly + Airport Transfers
If you’re arriving by air then you’ll probably fly into either Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva. The following transfer companies offer airport transfers, either private or sometimes shared:
Snowbound Transfers to La Tania
There are buses from the airport but you will need to change at Moutiers and they’re not cheap so if they is a few of you it often cheaper to share a transfer.
The train is the cheapest option but again this will involve several changes and the trains are somewhat infrequent.
Drive
It’s about a 9hr drive once in France to reach La Tania. The benefits of driving are no luggage restrictions and the option of an extra day skiing during a week’s holiday but the tolls can be quite pricey on the motorways so something to consider.
Train
The Eurostar offers overnight trains direct from London St Pancras to Moutiers (about 25mins from Courchevel, at the foot of the mountain). If you don’t mind overnight travel, and can sleep on trains (or are willing to forego sleep) then this can be one of the cheapest and most convenient ways to reach the Alps. Plus, no extra charge for ski carriage. You just need to be able to carry all you can bring…..
La Tania closest airport
The closest airport to La Tania is technically Courchevel airport, but it’s only suitable for small private jets. Most international flights land in Geneva, Chambery or Lyon airports. Just a short 2.5 hour airport transfer away from La Tania.

Is La Tania good for beginners?
La Tania is an excellent resort for beginners. The resort has a small close-knit village feel, and it’s pedestrianised so you can wander along the main street from your accommodation and you have everything you need within walking distance.
For beginners, they have built two new magic carpets on the snow front, which are perfect for learning how to ski. There is also another magic carpet further up the mountain, just a short bubble ride away. Once you’re more confident stopping and turning, there is a fantastic green run that meanders back down the mountain to the village. This is a long run that’s great to practice your control and speed before exploring the whole mountain.
Once you’re confident to explore further, you have easy access to Courchevel and Meribel, from the top of the Col de Loze (highest point above La Tania.) The Three Valleys is the largest ski area in the world, so you could ski all the way to Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville if you wanted to!
If you need ski and snowboard lessons whilst in La Tania, our elite team of ski and snowboard instructors can enable you to progress and gain confidence in a safe and supportive environment. Take a look at our prices and availability online.
