January is a quiet part of the winter season. 
Outside of school holidays, the lift queues are generally fast moving, and cold temperatures mean snow conditions aren’t so much of a gamble. Put simply, we think it’s the best time to ski in Verbier. Plus it’s snowing as we’re writing this.
Even though the resort is quiet, the team at New Generation Verbier have been busy this week.
First up is Josh Maddison. Josh was out ski-touring on Monday. He’s preparing for his European Mountain Safety exam (and having fun making fresh tracks!). We are a tiny bit jealous of him right now… The European Mountain Safety exam tests instructors’ knowledge of avalanche safety, group leadership, rope work and navigation. Josh was ski touring near the Grand Saint Bernhard monastery, where the famous dogs were bred.
To get to the fresh snow, Josh had to climb uphill for a few hours but the views were spectacular.

Meanwhile, the BASI Level 4 Technical Training Team were warming up for the day’s skiing.
And here’s the boss, Tom Waddington, having fun. The blue piste to Siviez has had excellent snow. It’s a great place for practising, slower, precise drills at the start of the day. Like skiing on one ski.
Over at La Chaux, things were getting serious on the Gap Course. The students are practicing their teaching skills in preparation for their BASI Level 2 exam. 
And what about the rest of our clients? Well Andy and his clients found some great snow for short turns at the top of the M25. Look at that grin!
