About New Generation

Here at New Gen, we’re passionate about delivering incredible mountain experiences. We’ve 20 years’ experience helping people develop technique, build confidence, and have fun. In that time, we’ve learned what makes a good trip great, and it’s the little things that count. So whether you’re a skier or boarder, it’s your first time, or your fiftieth, our team are on-hand to make sure it runs like clockwork. You are on holiday after all!

We’re often asked what makes New Gen different.

In the past, we’ve reeled off the standard – small groups, all in English, highly qualified instructors…..

But doesn’t everyone offer that now?

Our aim is to inspire, support and develop. We believe that when you feel supported in a friendly and welcoming environment you learn faster and make bigger gains. And that by using the power of our whole community, we can share ideas, and learn from each other to provide the best experience, and help you realise your full potential.

By sharing ideas and learning over the years we have tested and developed:

  • Effective and enjoyable courses and experiences,
  • The most robust safety procedures,
  • Systems which enable easy booking, and excellent support services.

All of which mean bigger gains, peace of mind and more fun for you.

Who we are

Our Story

At a recent team away day, one of our team asked one of our founders, Tom, why he set up New Gen back in 1998. His answer? We just wanted to make ski lessons awesome and help people to have fun.

New Gen was born in Courchevel by four instructors keen to do something different. We were one of the first independent ski schools in the Alps, back when ski coaching was a very different beast. Times have changed, and our competition has most certainly got stronger. But what hasn’t changed is our desire to make skiing fun, and to provide the best possible experience for our clients.

Since those, early days we’ve grown to 20 teams across the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps. Each offering the same New Gen experience, while providing a small team feel to so many of our clients who return each year. So whether you’re in Meribel or Morzine, Verbier or Val d’Isere you’ll get the same service, the same smile and the same support.

With New Gen recently celebrating its 20 year milestone, we’ve been thinking back to where it all began, and the journey we’ve had along the way. We might not always have got it right, but we’ve been incredibly lucky to have learned from some amazing people. We’re committed to development and innovation which is why we’re proud to be an official BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) partner, with many of our team BASI trainers and mentors. We’re continually learning from our team, from our clients, and from our partners, and we’ll use these experiences to help ensure we continue to provide a service than meets or exceeds your expectations. And a service we can all be proud of.

Our Values

Our values are very important to us. They were decided as a team, and reflect on what is important to us and how we want to be. They’re not just words we put on a wall or something to display on our website. They shape how we work together, as well as how we work with our clients and our partners, and how we operate within our communities. We strive to be:

I’m the managing director and one of the founders of New Gen 20 years ago.  My job is to coordinate the different parts of New Gen and ensure we are moving in the same (and hopefully right) direction. I started out as an instructor and have always loved skiing and teaching. I get to visit many resorts across the Alps during the winter. I spend time with our brilliant teams and ski with clients, many of whom have become friends. I always wanted to work in a positive environment with great people and feel I have a dream job.

When I first joined the team as an instructor in Courchevel 1850 we were just beginning to understand the huge benefits and opportunity of being a community of like-minded people with shared goals and passions. My role is continuing to develop the quality of our operations, community and work environment and my hope is for you to see that in everything we do.

I have fantastic winters visiting our teams and schools and I love meeting the people who ski with us, hearing their enthusiasm for learning at all levels and having new experiences in the mountains.

As Director of bean-counting, it’s my job to ensure that monetary resources are utilised effectively across New Gen. Prior to joining New Gen, I worked in the catering industry for many years specialising in fine dining restaurants, rail catering, and catering franchises. Despite having worked alongside some amazing Michelin starred chefs, I have learned nothing from them. None of my friends would recommend sampling my culinary skills!
