Ski and Snowboard Instructor, St Anton and Lech

My Story

Octavia Steiger or Occy for short.

I learnt to ski in Villars in Switzerland at two and a half and moved on to Snowboarding at seven in St Anton.  Since then, I have skied and snowboarded competitively across Europe and became British U13, U16 and British Ski Cross Champion.  Managing to fit in 50 days a year on snow, even during Covid!

With my Level 2 Children Coaching qualification, I have a lot of experience supporting children and teens to learn new skills and have fun along the way.

Having raced across Europe for four years, becoming British U13, U16 and British Ski Cross Champion along the way, I have experience not only in racing but the preparation, physical and mental needed.

Having skied /snowboarded with my elders and my much younger brother all my life, I have a unique insight into keeping the whole family having fun together safely to create great holiday memories.

Having lived in the UK and Switzerland, my dream has always been to become a ski/snowboard instructor.  Now feels like the perfect time before I head off to University to study Economics.

Top Tip

  • If you’re thinking of learning to snowboard this season – whether young or old, do consider the Step In Bindings. They do save you energy each time you get on and off the lift.
  • When learning to snowboard, I would recommend having some protection for your bottom, as I remember when I first started, I spent a lot of time on it.
  • For the perfect end-of-day meet-up point, head to Sonnegg Restaurant / Bar. A great place to sit and enjoy the end-of-day sunshine.
